Garment touch the skin?

This is mostly for endowed members... does the garment have to touch the skin? I guess this would be more important for women with regards to time of the month, bra, etc. Each temple worker seems to say something different.

I have ask this question to several people and different people got different answers. I got the one that says your garments should touch the skin, period, no other circumsntances like the time of the month and so on should stop you. But I tell you something, it is just not possible when the time of the month arrives! sad.gif

Garment touch the skin? Studies Doctrine Mormon

As an unendowed member I have little right to really have an opinion on this topic, though if you all would be so kind as to bear with me, I will attempt to make my case clear...

For the Sisters of the Church, when I was learning about the Temple and the Garment I was told that it was to be worn against the Skin day and night except in matters of Hygene or where it could become visible to mockers (ie. swimming) Well I am not a Sister but in my mind (limited as it is... lol) I would think that the "time of the month" would be a matter of hygene. Another interesting thing I heard was that the Garment will protect the wearer as long as it remains undefiled... In the OT times a woman was considered "unclean" during that "time of the month"... I think the Lord would understand it if the woman wore a protectionbetween herself anf the Garment to prefent it from becoming "defiled"...

Bras on the other other hand are a metter of personal choice... and unless worn for health reasons may be considered a "fashion accessory" (again since I am both male and unendowed I have never seen a female garment... except in pictures on websites...) Does the Garment not offer support of it's own? If not then I would carefully seek the direction of the Spirit in humble prayer...

For the Brothers, yes it must always no exceptions except the ones noted (Hygene and viewability by unendowed) ...

Yes I can see some people taking advantage of the "exceptions"... for myself I am already never seen in less than would cover Garments... even when swimming... If I ever had a hobby or job that would would detract from my ability to keep my covenants - any of them - I would seriously reconsider that activity...

Just my ramblings on this...

Wow, the way you expressed your last message is so well written. I like how you connect your personal thoughts with your scriptures like this one:

Believe me, bras are not a fashion accesory ;D. The female garments do not offer proper support....even more when you wear them at the top of your garment. But like anything else, we need to see the Lord's help and use our common sense too.

You have been asked that? Are you serious?. What's wrong with your EQ President? :smile.gif he doesn't even do his home teaching properly and thinks he have the right to say something???.  I'm glad I don't have the Priesthood, otherwise if I was a Bishop your EQ President will get so much rebuke from me! yes...:smile.gif
Is he a convert or he was born in the Church?. I asked this because most people always love when somebody connect their own thoughts with the scriptures, this is indeed a great ability that you should be happy about. Like anything else, just listen to the people who make sense, sad to say, not everyone in the Church make sense. So keep the good work and faith. smile.gif[/offtopic]

I am slowly figguring this out...  :spock: The Spirit is still my best guide, he will teach me what I need to know and bring all things into my rememberance...

I think one of my EQ Pres.'s favorite things to quote is on of Joseph Smith's (?) ... something about too much of anything even church is a bad thing... Yeah, I don't get it either... lol[/offtopic]

Okay.  You just officially freaked me out.  Do you honestly believe that bras are a fashion accessory, and a matter of personal choice??  (Oy and veh, son.  You haven't been around women much, I take it?)  They are most definitely a requirement for most women, but I don't think it's appropriate to begin a discussion here about that particular topic.

Now I need to ask you... why in the world would you be looking at women's church garments in pictures on websites?  And from those pictures be making assessments regarding support of the female anatomy?  On the one hand, you seem to have a wealth of knowledge; but on the other hand, you are very naive.

This is a topic best answered by appropriate church leadership.
