Bmobile or Digicel
Which mobile service do you prefer to use in Trinidad & Tobago - Bmobile or Digicel?
I was trying to find a way to continue my incomplete post on "Which do you prefer Bmobile or Digicel?"
I wish I could support our local services and say proudly that I prefer Bmobile over Digicel. But that would be a falsehood. I have recently contemplated last year to switch over to Digicel but I would not for the following reasons:
1) Bmobile has currently given me 150 more free minutes
2) Digicel does not have rollover minutes.
3) Digicel rates are much more expensive than Bmobile.
4) Digicel cell phones are more expensive than Bmobile.
5) Digicel is currently negotiating text messaging to Bmobile. Yes that's right. You can only text from Digicel to Digicel only.
6) Digicel calls are sometimes "blocked!" I wonder why?
There are three reasons why I would switch from Bmobile to Digicel:
1) The service is much better.
2) The cell sites are earthquake proof. Last year all Bmobiles were down due to the earthquakes in December. Whereas all Digicel cell phones were not affected.
3) Better reception anywhere in Trinidad. With the Bmobile, you must run a "Verizon Wireless Test" :- "Can you hear me now?"

I prefer TSTT mostly because they control land lines. What is the point of going on to another service and still having to deal with the competitor indirectly.
I enjoy the competition - it brings down prices and makes TSTT less of a monopoly.
You are absolutely right! Why bother to switch over to Digicel when they need to receive the service from TSTT? However, it is important to have competition since it forces us, to improve our customer service right here in Trinidad!

Comments: Well first of all, people should consider when TSTT was charging us $6 min for overseas calls , and by magick the rates went right down why? Why such sudden rate change what they were doing all this time. On another note most of TSTT staff are under qualified for the jobs they have and the bosses and heads of departments are none the less wiser, so its discrimination to those who are qualified and experienced to answer to people of a lesser state.
I think both services are mediocre but if I have to choose one, I would choose Digicel. As an example, I was just given a $20TT free credit with the following message:
I recently went to Bmobile to get myself a temporary phone and I noticed that the service has gone downhill. Of course service in Trinidad is generally terrible and TSTT is no different but it has gotten worst. The way their reps talk to you is as though you owe them something and are not paying. Getting them t answer questions is an ordeal - terrible. Each time I have gone into a Digicel outlet I get at least helpful services even if it is not much better than what Bmobile reps dish out.
