Why Christians Support Israel. They believe in supporting American allies and supporting countries that share their moral values. In speeches to fellow Jews around America, I often point out that many American Jews are experiencing cognitive dissonance. The institution Jews most admire — the university — turns out to be the… Source 9t.
First off, the 'country' that "Put their Jesus to death" was the Roman Empire. The Sanhedrin put him on trial for claiming to be the son of God, and then handed him over to Pontius Pilate to be scourged for claiming to be the King of all the Jews. Pontius then handed him over to the Roman authorities to crucify him. Scourging was a whipping punishment and usually not fatal. The passing of Jesus' punishment up the ladder of authority escalated his punishment.
Secondly, Israel did not exist when Jesus was put to death, nor did any Jewish country or empire. The Jews had a province at most in the Roman Empire.
Thirdly, recent history has shown that when any area is under Christian or Jewish control, other religions are allowed to coexist in peace. When an area comes under Muslim control, all other religious temples, artifacts, etc. Are usually destroyed or taken over. The creation of Israel in 1947 was the best way for the British to ensure that the ancient city of Jerusalem did not become another exclusively Islamic city. As caretakers, the Jews have excelled. The Christians who support the State of Israel see that it's existence is in their best interest. These days, many people who want to visit Bethlehem cannot because the Arabs of the area prevent them, and the population of non-Muslims in areas controlled by Islam has been falling dramatically. The trend indicates that the tolerance for non-Muslims in these areas is nearing zero.
While anyone should be allowed to support who they want I recall some years ago that a zealot Christian pastor went to Israel and started a fire in a mosque to cause friction between Muslims and Jews. He was caught and luckily it didn't spiral out of control but that's how far some Christians will go and its just wrong.
