Wowbagger Introduction

Goodday people and other species,

I have joined the ranks because I really enjoy roleplaying games but have actually never tried text-rpg. So through this I'm trying to find out if this is just as enjoyable as playing a videogame.

I'm a software engineer and I'm 30 years old and I'm planning to create a textbased rpg for phones, so this is also research for me I guess.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask them.

Here's the FIRST one: If ye be looking to get started with Dungeons & Dragons Play by Post then D&D Start Guide. Dungeons & Dragons here allows you to start participating immediately once thy character is approved by the Dungeon Master.

Here's the SECOND but no less important one: If ye be looking to join 'The World of Medieval' (Custom Play by Post) then thou needest a minimum of 30 Constructive Posts within this here Community. Thy posts should be within the Rules or they will be deleted. Ye may post anywhere in the Community to make thy 30. Perhaps the Board, Card, & RP Game Reviews is a good place to start. Keep thy level of activity at 75% too, we be need'n active adventurers here not those that sit and play with child toys. Get started, select a Board, a Topic and then share thy views until ye have yer 30 Posts under thy belt then return here and request RPGer Status.

Welcome. How do you plan to implement a Text based RPG on a phone? Are you thinking of something like Zork? Text based role-playing games here essentially already work on phones because most mobiles now have regular browsers that can visits sites like this and participate.

Hello and welcome Wowbagger, Dungeons & Dragons surprises me in this format. There is a lot you can do story and character wise that is hard to do on tabletop.

Not very good to want to create an app but not have some kind of plan to bring it about. Feel free to taker up Oliron's offer if that will give you thee kind of grounding you need.

I'm not saying I don't have a plan. Joining this forum and participating in RPG is part of the research.
So I will definitely take up Oliron's offer after I have read the rules of character creation.

Creating the app is not the main reason for joining this forum, I really enjoy playing rpg's and I have always been curious about text-rpg and how it works.
The app is just a bonus and I'm not looking to make an extra buck.
