Mobile Browser Loading Page Twice

On mobile browsers a page may load twice if the mobile browser cannot find the source of a background image. I know that seems silly but for a long time I was trying to find the reason for a page loading twice only when on mobile. After explicitly adding in some code that removed the call for a background image if there was none the double loading stopped!

That's a strange reason for any browser to reload an entire page. If an image isn't there makes sense for me to ignore it rather than reload all the content again because of it.
