ZoneAlarm Firewall

Humans can become accustomed to habit, but others are yet unaware what they should become aware of... Such as hackers, crackers and the like. Having a firewall installed on your system is vital. In another discussion we talked about being 'patched' which is not as specific as having a firewall running. A firewall in its simplest terms is the one of the last defenses against prying eyes and programs into your computer. It is like a security guard that checks all those that want to come into your property. ZoneAlarm is one of the best free firewalls out there but there are others.

I have Zone Alarm on one pc; on the other I have Tiny Personal Firewall. Interesting name I know, but it works pretty well. It is developed by Tiny Software. However, last time I checked they did not have a free version of the firewall, only the commercial one. Here is the website:

I've been using ZoneAlarm for about 3 years now, and I love it! It absolutely puts you in stealth mode on the 'Net -- and I've had that tested by a techie friend of mine so I feel pretty confident.

i never had even learned obout this "Zone Alarm" til i sold a copy of it to a customer in Staples. They guy was telling me it uses a whole different face compared to Norton or McAffee. I heard it is prob more effective than any of those companies firewalls and prevention from viruses. sounds good to me, looks like i might have to get a copy unless you guys have some sort of reasons that you don't like it?

How interesting that News brought this up. My ZoneAlarm came up yesterday to note that there is an update, and I updated today.

Although I have a physical firewall at home (Linksys router), I believe that a software firewall is also extremely important.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried the Pro version of Zone Alarm? I am wondering if it is necessary / worth upgrading for better protection.

ZoneAlarm no longer covers 98SE and ME OS versions. So this means you will need to upgrade your OS or do without the latest 13MB patch that ZoneAlarm has just put out. Being that I still use ME that is bad news.
