I have many favourite artists. I love the impresionists like Monet then there is Seurat and Degas and I like the old masters like Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo along with Pablo Picasso. Jackson Pollock is also fantastic! There are a few pacific and New Zealand artists that have also impressed me like Fatu Feu'u, Colin McCahon, Michael Smither. It is very hard to pick and then there is my wife who isn't too bad of a painter!
I think all artists are fabulous. Some of my favourites are Leonardo Da Vinci for his sketches and the way he was fascinated with the human body, then there is Van Gogh for his brush strokes and how he made the canvases come to life, Pablo Picasso because of his brilliance with portraits depending on what the era was, New Zealand artists llike Michael Smither, colin McCahon, polynesian artists like Fatu Feu'u, Reuben Patterson.
This might not seem very sophisticated, but I like paintings that tell a story, or, even better, hint at one. Like the works of Edward Hopper, and Jack Vettiano. I believe that good art is interactive, in that the artist creates the piece, but the viewer creates his own meaning.
