Mark Hacking The Hacker - Lori Hacking Murder Case

I'm sure you have been following the news of this LDS pregnant woman who disappeared on July 19th after a morning jog. Well, she never returned home, her husband who is also an LDS member was buying a mattress hours before he reported her disappearance to the police. They found the car of the lady around the same place she usually stretches but no signs of her. The police did not arrest the husband but they refer to him as a 'person of interest' in the case.
Because of this investigation, they discovered that the husband of Lori, Mark Hacking never graduated from the University of Utah as he said to his wife and relatives and he never applied to medical school in North Carolina as he has said too (They were making the preparations to move there). All was a lie. Mark Hacking said he lied because of the pressure he felt because his brothers are all professionals.
The day after the disappearance of Lori, Mark Hacking was put in a psychiatric hospital after being found naked in a hotel and with a nervous breakdown. He still there although doctors said he is free to go.
But today both families said that the search for Lori Hacking is 'unnecessary' since Mark provided some kind of information that would make her search 'unnecessary'...

I have been following this story since it broke about a week ago, but I did not realize the people involved were LDS. It sounds like there was a heated discussion between the two; probably because of all the lies that he was feeding her. The mattress incident was a huge factor in this crime, because the old one was found in a dumpster with the top padding removed and slash marks along the sides. The sheets for the mattress were also missing which was very suspicious. A very sad story indeed, and what was worse was that her family backed him up the entire time until he made his supposed confession.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- Mark Hacking confessed to two older brothers that he killed his wife as she slept and then put the body in a trash bin, their father said Thursday.

Hacking, confronted with evidence he had something to do with his wife's disappearance, and overwhelmed by the volunteer effort to find her, made the confession when his brothers Scott and Lance visited him at a psychiatric ward July 24, the father, Douglas Hacking, said.

"He decided the time was right -- he had better let authorities know what happened," Douglas Hacking said.

The details of the confession were disclosed Thursday in an interview of Scott Hacking in The Salt Lake Tribune....

Last week, as searchers continued to sift through the county landfill looking for Lori Hacking's body, authorities say a woman was mowed down by her boyfriend's car in Arches National Park, a Carbon County woman was shot four times by her husband and a Roy masn held his estranged wife at gunpoint for two hours.

They had a memorial service for Lori Hacking, they show dozens of pictures and videos, her mom displayed her first little hat, and hair cut. It was very moving. Lori was the only daughter of the Soares (and she was adopted also). Both families (Soares and Hacking) were together, no mention of Mark at all. Lori's mom also read a letter that President Hinckley sent to them assuring that Lori was fine and in good care of Heavenly Father.


Well, I found out reading several articles about Utah that right now they are having a big problem with wife abuse, but because women do not accept this fact (that they are being abused) they do not report it but it's happening....

More than a month later since Lori Hacking was reported missing, her body has not been discovered even though police and dogs have gone through two-thirds of the landfill. They are now skeptical as to whether they will ever find her body. If she is not found it will never be known whether she was pregnant or not because there are no medical records to support it. Do you believe that Mark Hacking lied about where he disposed of the body? Can the prosecution fully bring him to justice without a body or a weapon? Should he be tried for double murder?
