So much for this young man, are they going to do this every time someone gets a gold medal? Now that the man has his home let's get on all those people who have been waiting for their home for years.
He was not relaxed and focused, however like most things in this country its done at an amateur level. When you get to the Olympics you have reached a different level of performance and realization yet our athletes perform as though they are high schoolers just doing try outs by making the most absurd mistakes - fighting with themselves, running out of lane, being over emotional, taking things lightly, etc. The attitude of "Just happy to be there" will not bring in gold. According to one commentator, "Bronze is the new gold in this country".
I think people are being overly harsh. In order to get the kind of results the country seek, these athletes need to be properly supported throughout the year, not only when the Olympics are near by. Imagine Bovell, he got the swimming pool after how many years? And now he is retiring from international competition!
