The Art Of War

I have this book I bought some years ago called, 'The Art of War'by SUN TZU. It sat on the shelf for a long while and I saw it again today. It was translated from a two thousand year old Chinese text. It is supposed to have been written by a mystical warrior about the art of leadership and winning battles without conflict. Have you read it? Should I consider it?

I have not read it yet. However, I have read a lot about it. Among real warriors, it is considered one of the most powerful, informative works ever written about how to wage war. As I understand it, it contains clear principles, that when followed closely, work extremely well in any type of warfare.

One popular quote from it goes something like:
"Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer."

I've read a great deal of it, and have studied other aspects of it. Read it, it still applies to situations today. Indeed several passages from it were instrumental in conducting the ground war in the first gulf war.

It is a very good read. I suggest it - absolutely. It is very interesting to see the thoughts and ideas of ancient philosiphers.
