Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has died, according to an announcement on Saudi State TV. He was 90.
The announcement comes nearly three weeks after the state-run Saudi Press Agency said Abdullah was suffering from pneumonia and had been admitted to a hospital.
King Abdullah became the oil-rich nation's sixth king in August 2005. In the context of the kingdom's conservative circles, he was seen as a reformer and often came up against the more hard-line clerics. Ref. CNN
He dies at age 91. He had a long life no doubt to the best of health care. Now the important matter is who will take over from him and what will be their position on the Middle East and the West.

U.S. President Barack Obama will travel to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in order to pay his respects to the newly appointed monarch, King Salman, and the family of the late King Abdullah, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said today.
Vice President Joe Biden was originally to have led a delegation to Saudi Arabia on Obama's behalf. However, the schedule for the President's departure from India has been adjusted to allow Obama to stop in Riyadh himself on his way home, Earnest said. Ref. CNN
