AL Rookie of the Year
GENNARO FILICE: AL ROOKIE ARMS WAY UP, NL WEST POSITION WAY DOWN
A.L. rookie pitchers: Dealin' in the big leagues just isn't supposed to be this easy, at least not this soon, and definitely not in the American League. One of the definitive story lines of the 2006 season has been the emergence of many dominant rookie arms in the American League. Four of them stand out above the rest and should make the AL Rookie of the Year race pretty interesting. Here's how I currently rank them:

My vote is for Francisco Liriano who has managed to be dominant on a low budget team. Its much easier to be dominant with a staff of seasoned veterans that are dominant themselves. Being THE dominant pitcher on a so-so team is much more difficult, even more so when you are a rookie. I think that Francisco Liriano and his 97MPH fastball is simply phenomenal. I am excited to see what he will do (to the Royals) in the up coming years with the Twins.
