Favorite Soda - Page 3

My all time favorite is Orange Fanta, but not the kind you get in the US. It has to be the European type. Nothing like it. The type here is also good.

Next to that is probably root beer. Mug is good, Hires is better, but not available where I live. A&W is right there with Mug. IBC is also excellent.

But what is REALLY good in root beer is the imported stuff. Can't remember the name, but in a couple of import stores here, there is some root beer from (I think) Sweden. They have a nutmeg version and another, special, version. The special comes in resealable bottles (similar to Grolsch beer bottles). But it costs $6.00 per bottle. I very rarely get it.

Before I broke the caffeine addiction, I loved Coca Cola (Vanilla Coke, Classic Coke, Cherry Coke, etc, etc, etc.). I still like the flavor, so occasionally get a caffeine-free Coke.

I have had caffeinated drinks a couple of times in the last three months, but the addiction is broken.

BTW, I remember the second best drink in the world.
Stewart's Orange Cream soda. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier today. If I have the choice between root beer and orange cream, I definitely take the orange cream. Tastes like a Dreamsicle (an ice cream bar with vanilla ice cream covered with orange sherbet). Heavenly.

I thought I had already replied to this thread, but apparently not... So.

My favorite growing up was Pepsi. We drank Pepsi cleaning house, drank Pepsi out at dinner, drank Pepsi at parties. Second was 7-Up. And sometimes we had Fresca, but since it was considered a diet drink, we "cool" school girls did not want to be seen with it (seems so ridiculous now).

When I drink soda, I now drink mostly diet sodas of the cola variety. I can't take 140 calories and 40 grams of Sugar!! Ridiculous. The kids like Sprite, Hawaiian Punch, and Creme Soda.

Fruity sodas -- around here we like Horchata, Black Cherry, grape, and my son really likes Kiwi-Strawberry (ick! too sweet for me).

What is Horchata? I have never heard of it. Is it a brand or a flavor?

It's a flavor -- inspired by a fruity drink from Mexico called Horchata. To me, it kind of tastes like creme soda, but with a little "zing" to it smile.gif Locally, Shasta soda distributes it. You can't find it everywhere, but when we can get it, it's good stuff.

I am glad I started this discussion because I have learned a lot about so many different sodas that I did not even know existed! Thanks everyone!

i alwayz thought that Horchata was kinda like a cinamon rice milk drink....really sweet. but maybe it's called something else, unless they make a carbonate version of it....which would definitely be interesting.

oh yea that Orange Cream Soda is such good stuff...and those ice cream bars are just awesome....MMMMmmm...now i'm hungry.

black cherry soda does taste pretty good, and i think that's what my dad prefers.
