ACLU

If you are a US citizen - do you feel that you have gained positively from the actions of the ACLU? They seek to after the freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.

I think that the ACLU has done both good and bad. They have proven to be overwhelmingly hostile towards conservative religious thought, but have also proven to be useful in defending the civil rights of poor people.

My perception of the ACLU is that they have done a lot of good in the US, but there has been claims of excess litigations and unfair bias towards the accused instead of the victims. The main focus of the ACLU is in maintaining and fighting for principles as outlined in the US Constitution and this means that many times they have had to take on ugly or unpopular cases in their efforts, which may give them an unfavorable reputation.

My perception of the ACLU is that is a communist front. Though it does appear to stand up for some things, it overwhelmingly supports that which is destructive to rights and freedom.

The ACLU and similar organizations worldwide can often be detected as mere fronts by

(1) speaking about "human rights"

Which is a cunning way of separating liberty and life from property rights; but without the right to property you are not free. Period.

(2) speaking about special-interest rights

A way of dislodging genuine individual rights by highlighting either false rights or the "rights" of groups. Groups do not have rights, and there are no special rights associated with certain races, children, or people with disabilities, ad nauseum

(3) opposition to death penalty

Mainly because these organizations are socialist who oppose Christian principles; whilst at the same time socialist/atheist governments commit all manner of murder

(4) no support for the absolute right of self defence (right to keep and bear arms) of the individual

Thus they oppose the very purpose and definition of just and lawful government - and Constitutional government too as far as the US is concerned (and the UK too).

The ACLU of Michigan has filed suit against the state, arguing that it has failed to provide remedial help to students whose reading skills are years behind. Observers say the outcome of the suit could affect how school districts around the country deal with remediation.
