Critical Flaws in IE

First of all why do you use Internet Explorer? It is so buggy and full of security holes. Recently members were complaining that when they visited the Medieval section they would get a serious memory problem. I could not see this on Netscape and had to open the latest version of IE (with patches and all). After some research and experimenting I realized that the problem is IE - it has a critical flaw. When onError script is called it makes an eternal loop. IE has been informed of the problem since version 4! Have they done anything about it - NO!

Medieval users and others who would like to view this section can now do so in peace as I removed the code that caused the activation of the bug in IE. rolleyes.gif

Basic example of the flaw:

What this does:
1) It creates an image with an invalid src
2) IE tries to show the picture but can't: it fires the
onError-event
3) The onError-event resets the src attribute to the same
invalid src.
4) goto 2

Yes I agree that IE is full of bugs, but like any other monoply, we are sometimes force to use things we dont like. Take Windows for example, same argument can be made there. I used to use Netscape until my company stated they would not support our pc's if Netscape was even installed on it. It is amazing how Microsoft can get away with having such buggy products. If the same were true for any other consumer product, like a car, etc, that company would be sure to go out of business in a heartbeat. Rant on.

IE6 Shutting Down

Is anyone having trouble viewing any part of our site or sites with flash using IE 6? I have noticed that it shuts down when I load this site or Windows Update. A recent user told me about the problem.

Update

I reinstalled SP1 for version six and that seemed to cure the problem.

You can always expect Bill Gates to cater for buggy software. It amazes me that people have not become evolved with Firefox or Opera.
