I also greatly disagree with the reasoning that God would leave any sort of 'truth' out of the Bible. Why would God want us to only know part of the truth rather than the whole?? I believe that the Bible is just as how it should be: Truth as it is, with no 'stories' left out.

God didn't leave anything out, but perhaps men did, in the process of editing and compiling and translating and transcribing the great work we know as the Bible.

I agree with your scriptural references, women are supposed to be subject to their husbands. A lot of women have trouble with that, but:

QUOTE
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her...
This is the part most men have trouble with. wink.gif

One thing I find interesting is that it was women who first saw the resurrected Christ. Mary and Martha were devoted disciples, if not officially apostles.

In my opinion, of course.

i agree with you on the part about men having problems recognizing that they have to show love in return to their wives... i mean, marriage isn't supposed to be just one sided, it's a two way street there.

and about men leaving out stuff, i didn't quite understand what had been said about it, so i thankyou Farseer for clearing that up for me. i do agree that some stuff was probably left out due to different translations of Greek and Latin Bibles, because alot of their words could mean so many different things in English. My teacher at college pointed out a couple examples from I and II Samuel (we studied it last year).

I have a little bit of "Bapti-costal" beliefs on this issue. I don't believe women should be pastors because the Bible does say that men are to be the heads; however, I view pastors and preachers/evangelicals as two different things. A person can be a preacher without pastoring a church, and one of the most powerful evangelical preachers I have ever heard preach has been a woman.

In I Corinthians 14:34-35 when it says that women should not speak, I believe, and was taught in my New Testament class, that it literally means speak. A lot of times this verse is taken out of context. Women kept interrupting the preachers to ask questions, and it was disrupting the actual service. They would talk to their husbands if they were confused about something, and just as talking in a church service is looked down upon nowadays, it wasn't exactly favored then either. That is why the verse is stated about women not being able to speak in church.

Women can reach people for God on a level that men cannot, just as men can reach people on a level that women cannot. We all have our place, and it's just a matter of not reversing roles and trying to do things our own way.

1 Corinthians 11:5 - "But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head..." v. 16: "But if one is inclined to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor have the churches of God"

A woman was allowed to prophecy and pray in the Church, as long as her head was covered.

There were several women who played a part in Jesus' ministry.

1. Phoebe is referred to as a deacon and a helper whom Paul commended to the church in Rome. (Romans 16:1-2)

2. Junia is considered "outstanding" among the apostles. Apostle meaning "missionary" and not referring to the 12 Apostles. (Romans 16:7)

3. Euodia and Syntyche helped Paul spread the Gospel. (Philippians 4:2-3)

4. Priscilla, after the introduction of her and her husband, is listed before her husband, which indicates a greater position. (Romans 16:3-4) She is also listed first in Acts, which signifies she is one who taught Apollos in the way of God more clearly than what he had known in the beginning. (Acts 18:26)

5. Mary worked hard for the Roman church. (Romans 16:6)

Women have definitely played a role in the churches and ministry of Jesus.
