My first impression was that the female robot looked very 'plasticky', but when you actually see the close-up shot of the face, wow, it is eerily too close to the real thing!
I think that for years, Japan has been way ahead of other Countries with its' electronic technology, so I am guessing that it has become a way of life to always be one step ahead of the competitor.
Excellent technology! One of the goals that Japanese need to achieve is to make the robot interact with other people. Anyway, that is long time ago, so the Japanese already have more technology than that robot! They should a male version of that kind robot. I wonder what had become of that robot?
