SHATTERING MUSICAL MYTHS

There is a stigma attached to contemporary classical music -- at least in the mind of the average concertgoer. A myth circulates among audiences that music written after 1900 is, by definition, unlistenable. Any recent work by a living composer needs to be swept under the rug and forgotten.

For me music at any level is a matter of opinion and thus can only be rated by the listener. Just because one group - no matter how elite - does not like it, does not mean that it (newer versions) is bad.

I agree with you JB. Just because one group thinks that way, it doesn't mean the music is not good enough, it is just a matter of opinion.
