Can Man Become Perfect?
Is it really possible for man to become perfect even as God is perfect?
In my opinion, no.
We can all aspire to be perfect, but we were all born with an inbuilt human trait of not being perfect, even if it is something mild such as having bad thoughts, or tittle tattling behind your neighbor's back. As much as we might like to be perfect, we can never attain to that level, no matter how much we try.
That doesn't mean however, that there aren't many, many really good people, who care for others, are selfless, and try to live their lives as honestly and as best they can.
I think we can become perfect but not in this life. Jesus in the Bible have commanded us to be perfect like his Father and Him are perfect. So I believe it is possible but it would take us to the next life in order to achieve such thing.
God warned the Jews time and again, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me!" He punished them in many ways, yet they continually and regularly turned their back on him. This all-powerful God created the earth, as well as all living creatures, but when He made man, He left a small flaw in His creation. He couldn't get man to stick to the idea of just one god. Since God didn't create a perfect man, how can we even dream of being perfect?

In a word, No.
Perfection cannot be achieved in a world were much of our beliefs and actions are based on personal beliefs and opinion. When your view of perfection is different from my view of perfection, can you know which one is true? How about in regards to the Bible? There are particulars in the Bible which are forbidden yet disregarded today. Such is the role of women. Women are considered barely human in the old testament, slightly better in the new. But still Paul commands that women should not speak in church, it is a disgrace.
So do you have to follow all the biblical commands to be perfect? Though its mostly ignored today, can a woman still be perfect if she speaks in church? See, we are a people who meld interpretation of the Bible around current beliefs and opinions and thus could never reach a point where absolute perfect is even possible.
No; this is because of original sin. That unfortunate day in the garden has made us, at some point in life, knowledgable in all evils and wrong. But, even if one was become baptized and all, we will always naturally sin- it is in our nature to be sinners, unclean, impure and wrong. This, of course, makes Christians seem like misanthropists, but that is not the case. The best thing of Christianity is that we love everyone, always, regardless of how bad of a person you are! All I am trying to make ostensible by saying these things is that, though we try so very hard, mankind is doomed to wronging. When we are children, we are naturally rebellious. The purpose of Christianity is to become strong enough to control this nature of ours and overcome our body and our skin and show the true being of the spirit, the good within us all. And...even if you show your true spirit, you will never be able to erase the fact that you are still stuck in bodily form- the form in which sin is wanted.
My last point: the only man that can be considered perfect is Jesus, for He not only is Son of Man, but the Son of God, and God Himself in the everlasting Trinity: The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Offtopic but,
And where at all does it state this presumption? And even then, I, as a fervid Christian and female, have come to accept our mistreatment. It came because of Eve (not that I blame her):
Our "mistreatment" is because of a mistake long ago, but not all punishments last forever. |
My answer would have to be NO.
I was raised going to church and no matter what church or people I talk to they all say the same thing and that would have to be that the only person or higher being that is perfect is GOD himself and that it is impossible for physical being such as ourselves can not be as perfect as he/she is.
I don't know what else to say about this subject if I have something else I will return.
