Book stores disappearing really saddens me. I love going into and browsing all their sections. Sitting down and relaxing while reading part of a book I will purchase. That environment is just so comfortable and feels like home. I know that shopping online is cheaper and more convenient but it loses so much of the experience. Convenience is winning out and I understand that.
I still like to go into a book store and walk through the books looking at what is fresh out and to see if anything catches my interest. I do not by books anymore as I read all on my e-reader. So when I find the books I like I will go home and then buy them on line. To see that some book stores are still very active now I feel it will be a few years yet before they go away.
I completely understand that it's tragic the stores are disappearing. I love the book store atmosphere, especially when they have a little cafe of sitting area. The problem is that I spend hours there but never bye anything. I'm a freelance musician, so my income is minimal as is. I can't afford to spend 10 dollars extra on a book just to support a store. In this regard, I think that book stores need to work WITH online retailers to some degree. Libraries offer many of the same services, but something about them doesn't feel the same.
