Many clients wanting to run SMF on their GoDaddy hosting account find that in the beginning everything with regards to their forum runs smooth and then all of a sudden they get the following message in place of their forum:

Usually clients wonder what is wrong with SMF but if you read carefully the error message you will see that:

That is often the case with Godaddy shared hosting - the server is busy because it cannot allocate enough resources to run your SMF. Clients are captivated by Godaddy's cheap hosting rates, but they do not realize that this is meant mostly for static pages (Simple sites), it is not meant to run a database like SMF.

What is the solution?

Adequate hosting. I have nothing against Godaddy, I think they are great for domain registration but when it comes to hosting something like SMF you need to get a host that allows you more control. Some things to consider:

* The size of your database (Membership and posts)

* The number of Mods you have installed that require even more resources (Media files, arcade, special profile, etc.

* Your need to control output: hosting / database options that let you backup, restore, or even move your files on the fly

Hosting Godaddy and SMF

Godaddy is really good for simple hosting where you don't need much to happen but definitely not for a community and if its a large community even worst - you need at least a good VPS or even better dedicated hosting but not everyone can afford that.
