I am almost embarassed to answer this. Of course, it may not be that many compared to somebody else. I have a DVD spinner that fits 80 DVD's, and it's completely full. I have DVD's stacked on top of it and some in another DVD case with my VHS. I have over 90 DVD's, and my collection is only growing. My weakness in life is the discounted DVD's at Wal-Mart.
During the annual....."Clean out the old junk before the new stuff comes in for Christmas Cleanup" in my home, we tidy and dust, and rearrange....and even count the DVDS. I don't know the exact number. but they occupy a steamer trunk that sits in my den, plus some space in my entertainment center. I have roughly 130-140 DVD's in my collection. We buy probably half of the new releases, plus I am a sucker for "Collections", such as the ....*laffin* ..... "War of the Monsters" DVD I got in my Christmas stocking. 10 Great "Japanese Man in a Rubber Monster Suit" Movies, on 3 DVD's.....
Of course we have the entire Matrix Series...Gladiator, LOTR trio, 2 of the Harry Potters, Both X-Men movies, Both Spider-Man movies, Anything with Drew Barrymore in it( EXCEPT CHARLIES ANGELS)....a couple of the Star Trek Movies, Some Babylon 5 Collectors DVDs. some Buffy DVD's, the 2nd & 3rd Seasons of Stargate...and now starting to acquire the Farscape seasons. Some John Wayne Westerns, and my fave John Wayne movie, the Quiet Man. Some romances like...'The Notebook", and "50 First Dates" are definitely worthy to own. No Disney Movies on DVD yet though. I'm praying they will make a DVD recorder so that I can copy all my Disney VHS tapes.....*grin*
I won't be buying the War of the Worlds/Spielberg DVD though. I hope they lose that movie in some deep dark pit and the world can then forget it ever shamed the big screen.
I mostly own series movies. I have all the Star Wars, the Ultimate Matrix Collection, the Extended Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and all of the Harry Potter Movies. Add classics like Back to the Future Trilogy and the Blade Trilogy, you come up with somewhere in the neighborhood of forty or fifty I supposed. I only own ten CD's. I have to download and like the CD before I buy it. If I listen to it more than once, I always buy it. Problem is, most CD's aren't that good to me.
I don't have a lot of movie DVD's. Ultimate Matrix collection, LOTR Extended Trilogy (just got it last Xmas), Fight Club, Office Space and Saw II (my wife bought it for me for Valentines). I usually don't buy or ask for DVD's unless I really like the movie. I'm content to watch it on TV, PPV or rent it. My kids have more DVD's than I do with all the Disney movies, etc.
I don't own that many dvds, probably about 20 ordinary ones including a couple of kids ones, but I have got 2 boxed sets of Law and order (Criminal Intent) which I recently treated myself to.
We don't really tend to watch that many dvds so it's not really that much of an incentive to dash out buying more, as they are so expensive.
I'll probably wait until the sales, and stock up on a couple more.
I own 2 movie DVD's: The Day After Tomorrow and March of the Penguins. I have lost my other DVD's. I am hoping to start collecting them again and end up with over 2 or 300.
