Does the 'look' of a building affect your worship?

PLACE AND WORSHIP: DESIGN OF CHURCH HAS AN IMPACT ON WORSHIPPERS

Older and newer churches just feel different. The weekly rituals, the yearly holidays may stay the same. Architecture, however, tends to evolve. And as places of worship change over time, so do the feelings they evoke.

Religion Design Architectural

For me, design of a building is very important, since if it is not suited to worship then it takes extra effort to get your mind focused. At the same time it should not be the main deliberation in your communications with God and fellow members, but it sure does help.

Architectural Design In Religion Beliefs Religious General

I have had great spiritual experiences in a high school Geography classroom used for Sunday services, and months of 'going through the motions' in beautiful, modern religious facilities. The Spirit of the meeting must transcend the appearance of even the finest edifice, or it is not a true religious experience.
