Joe Wilson

Joe Wilson probably deserves his own Thread by now with his infamous "Liar" scenario. The initial Discussion on that began here: Source 1 but since action is being taken on him I decided his own Thread was necessary. Here is the latest news:

QUOTE (USAToday.com)
WASHINGTON (AP) - The House of Representatives has voted to admonish Rep. Joe Wilson over his "you lie" comment to President Obama during the president's health care speech to Congress last week. The 240-179 vote on the resolution of disapproval reflected the sharp partisan divide over the issue.

As I have said before, President Obama was lying. He know that his statements were not true, yet he made them anyway. It may have been uncouth for Congressman Wilson to yell in the middle of the President's speech, but someone needs to point out these lies and distortions as much as possible. The media is not doing its job in ensuring that we learn the truth, they are only interested in supporting Obama and distorting what his opponents have to say.

I think Fox News tries to give the 'other view' if you want to call it that. Joe Wilson wrong or right does not need to take that avenue though. There are other ways of exposing inadequacies. Just think, if it were a President that you favored will you want someone from the other side shouting out "Liar!"? We don't what Wilson did to become some sort of new standard in America. We already have enough trouble with that from celebrities of late.

I have to agree that this was in bad taste. There were several different ways that Wilson could have made the same statement, that apparently are acceptable. It was only a few years ago that Bush was actually booed during his speech by Democrats. Was there a big uproar about the bad behavior and poor display of the Congressmen...then? Well, apparently, we dont remember it. Wilson could have stood up and yelled BOOOO right after Obama's denial. Democrats would have trouble complaining at all...good for the goose is good for the gander. I do think it was in bad taste from Wilson, but I also believe that it was spontaneous. There is no way a congressman is going to fall on his sword to make that stand.

To me, there isnt a whole lot of difference between a loud BOOO or YOU LIE when the President is giving a speech. My favorite part of the new rules on insulting the executive branch is that it is a bad of a attempt at legislation as the deregulation laws that brought on the realestate failure. You can drive a truck through what they wrote and it is ridiculous!
