Zork waits for Durgan and his partner to check out the door. If they don't find anything then Zork goes by the steps and throws any object he can find from the floor up it to see what it activates.
"Zork, I hope you don't mind if we go one level at a time to remember our progress. Do you want to come down here and help us try to lift this bar quietly?"
In Character: Zork attends to whatever Durgan needs, "Sure, we can do that, I was just making sure nothing will come flying down those steps at us."
Out of Character: Not sure which roll is needed so:.
"Not what I was expecting," Durgan says as he closes the door and bars it again. "We can come back here later. When we go go up, we should use these stairs so we have two exits from the top floor.
"But for now, perhaps the door at the end of the corridor?"
Durgan heads out the room and down the corridor to the door, checking it before opening. Sessativa stands back 20 feet.
Zork looks at Durgan and his partner before looking back at the stairs and sighing. He orders his dog to smell and bark if anything living is up there.
The Dog sniffs but does not bark. Either he did not sense anything living or nothing is there. When you get to the door at the end of the hall it is a shut and locked door. It is a well made wooden door. Looks to be one piece of wood with heavy black iron supports. It is locked and no key is around.
