The morning goes well and soon the sun is high overhead. After a brief break for lunch you start heading east again. Up ahead of you at the top of a rise you can see a cluster of trees. You can see some smoke rising from within the trees.

The Chainbreaker says...The party of three walk towards the smoke, judging the distance and switching to a stealthy crawl when the judge they are about 300 feet away.

As you get closer you can see another person laying close to the trees like they are trying to see what the smoke is about. As you crawl closer you can see this other person is a elf (Canabusis your now in). You can see a fire through the trees and some figures moving about the fire. They do not look friendly. You can catch some bits of talking about money and travelers.

From what you can see and hear they are sitting and waiting for travelers to come by so they can charge them a fee or kill them if they refuse to continue traveling upon the road. There are five men that you can see. They do not seem well armed or armored. Looks like mostly leather armor.

Gregmon stands from his position, drawing his sword and equipping his shield, "Foul villains!" He bellows, " Surrender yourselves, or prepare to face the justice of my steel!"
Erallis groans, crouching low and drawing two of his knives, both ready to throw. He is well behind Gregmon.

The men jump up from their seats and look your way. They laugh when they see the one guy standing there asking them to surrender themselves. One speaks up. "You need to walk slowly up here and give us your gold and we may let you leave with your life. Been a long time since someone was brave enough to interfere with us."
Two of them draw out bows and notch arrows to the string. The do not pull them back yet waiting to see what your going to do.

The Chainbreaker says... Seeing their jovial expressions Durgan creeps forward quietly trying to get closer to the archers using a wide route, but ready to pounce if the men react violently.
EDIT: he goes around to the left, I mention this since he's trying to flank the archers.
