As Durgan suggests, Gell will grab his weapons and gear and travel swiftly with his companions toward the source of the smoke.
Before we head out though he will inspect Zork's wounds and strap on a healing poultice of fresh forest herbs and murmuring a prayer to Elhonna. (Cure light wounds).
Zork is most grateful for the healing. "Thank you sir."
Despite the unusual social aspects of the newcome adventure he begins to see his usefulness.
Zork mounts his war horse and prepares for the journey.
Durgan says his prayers on the march (If possible) asking for:
1st: Cure Light Wounds x 4
2nd: Aid x2, Hold Person
He casts a couple Cures on himself straight away.
He leads the others south to the source of the smell.
Out of Character: I forgot to write it here, but I did mention in the player thread that Durgan would have detached his horse from the wagon. Hopefully it's not too late to include that.
You all pack up and head upwind following the source of the smoke. As you travel the smoke and starts to get noticeable and the smell is getting stronger. After a good hour you can see that the smoke is coming from over the next hill. The smell of the meat is making your mouth water it smells that good.
Gell tethers the mule and horses behind a bank or in a depression, so noise of them won't carry to the camp. He looks around for the best-defensible position to fall back to if things go badly.
When he has an escape/back-up planned, he will follow the scent of cooking up the hill (So he is downwind of the camp). As he approaches the crest, he walks low, looking for cover which will give him a view of the campfire.
He hopes his companions will also approach cautiously, but feels to young to give such seasoned adventurers advice.
Durgan politely asks not to tie his horse. He chooses to stay mounted and follow about 200 feet behind at a slow pace, ready to gallop forward at a sign of danger.
Zork moves ahead keeping a look out for any watchers that might be around. He will come up to the hill's point just enough to see without revealing himself.
