After enjoying his share of the roasted rabbit, Coron agreed with Durgan that they need to travel at a quicker pace. Once the party was on the road again, Coron answered Sessativa's question about what had brought him here.
"Me and my Mom and Dad were part of a merchant caravan. We travelled all over, stopping at every city, town, and village to buy and sell food, equipment, and supplies. My Mom was a merchant, well, she was the best merchant in the group. She could haggle with even the most stubborn trader, and always get the bottom dollar price for what they were selling. Then she would take it to the next town and flip it for a 400% profit. She taught me everything I know about trading and bartering, and even taught me several languages she had picked up in her travels. My father was the head guard for the caravan, and he taught me all I know about fighting and hunting. The guard group was small, only 5 strong, but with my Dad's strong arm and combat expertise, they were able to fight off bandit groups three time that size. Well..."
Coron's face grew sad as he continued with his story,
"Until the orcs showed up. They came out of nowhere one morning, there must of been thirty of them, maybe more. They quickly overwhelmed my Dad and the other guards and slayed them without mercy. When the attack started, my Mom gave me a small pouch of gold and sent me out of the back of the camp into the forest. I hid in the trees and watched as those filthy orc slavers killed my Dad, and drug my Mom away in chains. From there I ran. I ran until it was dark and spent a cold, lonely night in the woods planning my vengance on the orcs. The next morning when I awoke, I realized that there was nothing I could do alone with no weapons, so I started walking. When I exited the forest, I was lucky to stumble upon a small farm where I was able to purchase these weapons and armor, as well as some supplies and a few days worth of rations. From there I just wandered around in a daze with no real direction. Until I stumbled upon ya'll."
Coron stopped and looked around at his companions.
"And now, it appears I have found a new direction." Edited: Trake on 25th Sep, 2013 - 7:33pm
Micaiah looked down after hearing Coron story. -It looks we have a common enemy...- she faintly replied to Coron's narration.-Sessavita already now where I'm from and why am I a traveler. I am looking for an old friend, Douglas, who ran away after an orc assault in our village. The last and only I have heard of him is that he was looking for a way to resurrect his sister. It has been a year since then.
Micaiah lifted her head and gently touched Coron's Shoulder. -Hey, I have an idea. I help you find your mother if you help me find Douglas.- She offered trying to be supportive to her new companion.- The wilds are a lonely place to wander by yourself.
By then Micaiah had figured that even tho it was Sessavita who asked, she wasn't really paying much attention to them rather than giving odd looks to Durgan.
Durgan speaks up, "It's always those filthy bloody orcs. The mangy sub-humanoids are always warring and slaving even among their own kind, like they have no empathy. I bring good news and bad news to you both. I was part of a company that broke into an orc fort just a fortnight ago. The bad news however is dire, we only managed to rescue a handful of people before succumbing to heavy losses. Would either of you happen to know a Lilia Baker? I rescued her, she is safe now."
Sessativa immediately turns her full attention to Coron and Micaiah as she hears the horror of their journeys, her spirits waning in disbelief of such awful occurrences she thinks herself a spoiled brat and an ungrateful silly little girl. Not wanting to relate her near perfect upbringing, and the fact she went out on her own thinking it more of an adventurous game then an actual dangerous situation, she broods in silence.
She had a different idea as to what adventures where, in her mind the tails her Uncle Tress had told her seemed glorious in his telling. She was just beginning to realize the extent of evil and dangerous circumstances she had put herself in unknowingly in her quest for adventure and glory, wanting to follow in her Uncles foot steps.
Wanting to make up for her ignorance she meekly says to Micaiah and Coron, "I'm sorry to hear of your loss, I can not begin to imagine the pain and loneliness you must feel." As she was brooding in her self disappointment she had begun to slow her pace, realizing she was falling behind she quickly made up for it and continued to walk in silent sadness rebuking herself.
Coron looked at Micaiah and replied, "I will help you find Douglas. If we have to search every orc fort and camp in this land, then we will find him, and my mother!"
Coron listened to Durgan, and was humbled by his bravery, "May the gods bless you for your bravery, Durgan. This world needs more warriors who will stand up against such evil things. As for Lilia, I do not know her. If you rescued her a fortenight ago, then it would have been before our camp was attacked, but I know her and her family thank you."
As the party continues along the road they come to a bridge crossing a small river. "It is getting late, perhaps we should stop here for the night. We could try our luck at fishing again, and I sure could use a bath. What say the group?"
Sessativa pulls out of her self induced depression to reply to Coron when they come to the bridge. "I think we could set up camp here, I could rig the net to stay in place in the brook until morning, perhaps we could wake up to some fish, It may work a lot better then trying to drag it along?" She looks around at everyone to see what they might think would be the best solution for the night would be.
Micaiah noticed Sessavita's concern after they ended narrating they're story so she started feeling guilty about it.-Please don't feel bad for a little misfortune, my father always thought me that people is bound to keep going forward, even through the hardest of times.- She was trying to be supportive but she kept feeling like she was not, growing more and more nervous her accent started to show up again-. What I'm saying is emm it's not like it was fine for those things to happen but.. Umm I..- In a desperate effort to escape the situation she got herself into she rushed to the stream.- I'll see if this waters are fine for diving into, Coron ye woun't want leechas on yer back now?- Edited: soldonato on 27th Sep, 2013 - 6:20am
"The net across the stream is a great idea!" Durgan adds. "I would suggest camping a bit further from the water, to avoid any thirsty animals. I think 500 feet may be far enough. Also, does anyone want to change watch times? I feel like I got the easy end as last watch yesterday. For now, a bath sounds like a good plan."
